Eased restrictions, COVID Safe Industry Plans removed and new checklist for events

More businesses must use the Check In Qld app, including supermarkets, beauty and personal care services, leisure and recreation facilities including gyms, campsites, caravan parks, aquariums and zoos, public facing government services, higher education institutions, adult entertainment venues, hotels and other short-term residential businesses.

Restrictions on Businesses, Activities and Undertakings Direction (No. 20) took effect on the 25th June and has increased the allowed occupant density for indoor spaces to 3 people per 4m2. Venues for ticketed events with allocated seating can continue to operate at 100 per cent capacity.

Businesses will need to register their venue/s with the app and have until 1am Friday 9 July to start using it, but they must continue to collect contact information through another method until they start to use Check In Qld.

Events in indoor spaces or outdoors events with dancing must comply with the COVID Safe Event Checklist. Requirements for businesses to comply with their relevant COVID Safe Industry Plans or checklist have been removed. Large venues including stadiums, casinos and convention centres must still comply with their COVID Safe Site Specific Plan.

From 1am Monday 28 June 2021, anyone entering Queensland will need a border declaration pass including residents of New South Wales border communities. Refer to the Travelling to Queensland page for more.
