March – Local Elections and Out of Hours

During the 2016 Local Council election process each candidate for the two local Divisions, 13 and 14, and the Mayoral candidates, were offered the opportunity to put their platform for election into 500 words for posting on our website. Sadly some didn’t respond and perhaps that was a measure of their hopes of being elected.

The Chamber is an apolitical group and maintains strict policies to ensure that the Chamber is even handed and maintains that position. We note that a number of other neighbourhood groups in the area seem to stray from their constitutional focus. We are proud to be clear in our aims to improve the environment for business to achieve and perform well in the Chamber’s catchment and that includes engaging with all levels and parties of the political realm as and when required to progress the needs of our commercial community.

On 10 March we held another very successful “Business Out of Hours” at the Currumbin Vikings. The whole evening was an opportunity for members and guests to mingle and network in a relaxed environment with no speakers, agenda or pressure. Over 30 members, associates and guests gathered to watch a magnificent sunset and do business! The cost was minimal and all who attended had a great time.
