The Commonwealth Games will be held on the Gold Coast from 4th to 15th April 2018.

A number of events will be held around the Palm Beach, Currumbin, Elanora area and The Pines Elanora is right in the action.

Spectator Park n Ride Update

The City of Gold Coast have arranged free parking at two locations for both Cycling Time Trial and Cycling Road Race events. From these locations, spectators can take a free shuttle to drop you close to the course. Spaces are limited and on a first come first served basis and no bookings will be required. Accessibility assistance will be directed to a suitable parking area and appropriate shuttles area available to the drop-off location.

Park n Cycle

Limited free parking is available at St Andrews Lutheran College and Coplick Family Sports Park for both the cycling events for spectators wanting to cycle closer to the course. A limited supply of Mobikes will available on a first come first served basis. St Andrews Lutheran College and Coplick Family Sports car parks will close at 6pm. Failure to remove vehicles by this time will result in the vehicle being removed at the owner’s expense.

In support, the Embracing 2018 Legacy Program has delivered a number of initiatives to help businesses deliver an exceptional guest experience and ensure a lasting legacy for Queensland long after the closing ceremony.

 

The Be My Guest Online Learning Program has been developed to assist Queensland's tourism, hospitality and wider business community to deliver a consistent and exceptional guest experience. The Program educates participants in how to drive service excellence, and teaches the principles of Be My Guest. The Program complements existing customer service training programs and will inspire pride and passion for Queensland.

The Creating Tracks program has been developed in partnership with TAFE Queensland to support Queensland’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses within the hospitality, arts and tourism industry to support businesses to leverage opportunities from GC2018. Workshops have been delivered across the Gold Coast, Stradbroke Island, Brisbane, Townsville, Palm Island and Cairns and the Creating Tracks program was even featured recently on Channel 7's The Great Day Out.

A final Creating Tracks workshop was held on Thursday 22 March to support Indigenous businesses prepare for the inaugural Meeanjin Markets. The Meeanjin Markets will be held in Brisbane from 6 – 7 April 2018 and will showcase authentic Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander arts, crafts and experiences, and the delicious flavours of the Australian bush.

Cycling Australia Masters Road National Championships

The Cycling Australia Masters Road  National Championships will be held on Sunday 29 October 2017.

The closed-road circuit is an 18.7km loop from the Currumbin Beachfront to Elanora and out through Currumbin Valley. This event is being used as a test event for Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, when the same route will be used.
