National Trust - Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary

Education & Training

National Trust Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary is an internationally renowned tourist attraction receiving over 550,000 visitors a year, and plays a significant role in wildlife conservation and education.

In 1976 the Sanctuary was gifted to the National Trust of Queensland, and was heritage listed in 2009. The Trust continues to operate the Sanctuary on a not-for-profit basis, with all revenue reinvested back into the park, in conservation-based research and public education.

The Sanctuary is also home to Currumbin Wildlife Hospital. Treating over 10,500 sick and injured native animals every year as a free service to the community, Currumbin Wildlife Hospital has grown to be one of the busiest wildlife hospitals in the world.

By raising funds and awareness Currumbin Wildlife Hospital aims to continue its mission of protecting and preserving our native wildlife for future generations to enjoy.

The Sanctuary also offers unique wildlife experiences for corporate events and corporate team building, and we are currently inviting Corporate Partnership opportunities. Contact Paul Guerin at pguerin@nationaltrustqld.org for more information.

About Paul

One of seven siblings, Paul grew up on the sunny Gold Coast. Encouraged by his parent’s Peter and Lyn at the age of nine, Paul and his siblings started their own business called Kidco, selling icy cold poppers to the sunbathers along Surfers Paradise beach.

This successful yet seasonal business was soon followed by another called Sweet Success - selling confectionary to local businesses and office workers across the Gold Coast. These early entrepreneurial experiences set the tone for Paul’s career, teaching valuable life skills and instilling a love and passion for his home town.

Paul’s success covers all aspects of the entertainment and education industries, with highlights including, assistant choreographer for the Sydney 2000 Olympics where he performed alongside Kylie Minogue, musical theatre as a singer/dancer in Queen’s We Will Rock You, and DUSTY the Dusty Springfield Story, and presenting for Australia’s Disney Channel, Cartoon Network and Warner Brothers Movie World. Paul has presented for Woolworth's Carols in the Domain, International Boat Show, International Pet Expo and launched Kindness Week for the Dalai Lama. Paul enjoyed some very wild experiences as the Entertainment Director of Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo, where he also filmed and performed the lead role for Bindi Irwin and the Crocmen, which aired on Discovery Kids USA/ABC Australia. Paul’s television production credits include floor managing and assistant directing on the hit shows, The Voice (Australian Season 1), Young Talent Time (Season 1), and Farmer Wants a Wife (Season 8), and as Country Producer/Production Manager for The Amazing Race USA (Season 18).

Paul is based at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, as the National Trust of Australia [Queensland] General Manager - Education, Creative & Community Engagement and is responsible for the 14 daily shows and presentations across the park, as well as managing the Reconciliation Action Plan for NTAQ.
