President – Hilary Jacobs

The Pines Shopping Centre

Hilary has lived at Currumbin Waters having moved from the Snowy Mountains in December 2011 with her husband. Hilary has been the Centre Manager at The Pines since September 2012 and an active member of the Creek to Creek Chamber Committee since March 2013.

The Pines Shopping Centre is a leading sub-regional retail centre on the Gold Coast, home to Coles, Kmart, and over 70 specialty tenancies employing over 1,000 locals – including both independent and national retail groups. Along with the owners of the Centre, Hilary represents these retail businesses at the Chamber. The primary consumer trade area for The Pines takes in the suburbs of Elanora, Palm Beach, Currumbin and Tallebudgera. These suburbs make up the catchment of the Creek to Creek Chamber of Commerce. Hilary has been involved in institutional retail shopping centre management for over 15 years. Hilary’s shopping centre experience started in the UK in Sheffield in 1999. Hilary migrated to Australia in 2004 and has managed Shopping Centres for a number of major institutional owners including most recently AMP. Prior to joining The Pines, Hilary was Centre Manager for a similar sub regional centre at Queanbeyan NSW where she was also a founding member of the Queanbeyan Business Development Board for 3 years and an active member of the Queanbeyan Business Council. Hilary’s involvement with various Chambers of Trades dates back to her time as a Department Store Manager in the UK, where she was an active member of the Moor Retailers Association for 8 years, with 5 years spent as the Associations Chairman. Hilary was also a retail representative on the Sheffield City Forum for a number of years. From 2000-2003 Hilary was heavily involved in Master Planning with the Sheffield City Council for future of The Moor area of Sheffield.

 

Vice President - Chris Ward

Chris had a varied career before entering the Management Rights industry.

Chris owned and operated three KFC restaurants from 1991 to 2001.

He has served on several boards and committees among them, President of the Cowra Chamber of Commerce, Vice- President of the Cowra Visitors Bureau, Chairman Cowra Japanese Gardens, Founding Board Member KFC Franchisees Australasia, Board member of AKFCF International and Committee Member Cowra Shire Council Development Board and In 2001, Chris and his wife Wendy moved to the Gold Coast with their 2 boys to join the Management Rights industry and since then have managed two complexes on the Gold Coast. ‘Mari Court Resort’, a three story walk up with 55 apartments and ‘19th Avenue On The Beach’, a 16 storey building with 78 apartments.

He lists some of his interests as being cooking, entertaining, travelling, golf (very socially) and fishing (also very socially).

Chris believes in a fair go for all and has strong ideals and values.

His motto is ‘give what you can’.

Committee Member - Paul Guerin

Paul has had a hugely successful career performing for all the leading brands in children’s entertainment including Warner Brothers, Cartoon Network, Walt Disney Television Australia, and as lead performer in Steve Irwin’s “Crocmen” for the television series Bindi the Jungle Girl. Paul has also performed in the smash hit musicals We Will Rock You and Dusty and was Assistant Choreographer and dancer for Kylie Minogue at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Opening and Closing Ceremonies.

Paul’s management credentials include Assistant Entertainment Supervisor for Warner Brothers Movie World, Entertainment Director at Australia Zoo, winning the national award for Major Tourist Attraction during his time in this role, and currently as General Manager – Entertainment, Education & Community Engagement at National Trust of Australia (Queensland) Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

Paul’s television production credits include Assistant Floor Manager - The Voice and Young Talent Time, Floor Manager - Magical Tales, 2nd Assistant Director - Farmer Wants a Wife, and Country Producer/Production Manager for the USA Series 18 of The Amazing Race.

Paul has recently become a published author with his family book Family Business: the business of being family, a family memoire that shares the life of growing up in an entertaining family of 9, and is available through Amazon and Barnes and Noble.

Paul and his wife Katie run their own business, Lionfish Create, a creative agency that develops inspired content for children’s books, live events, stage shows, film and television.

 

Committee Member - Ian Grace

Ian Grace is Owner/ Director of Ian Grace Business Training

Since 1994 he has delivered his Advertising and Customer Service Programs to Newspaper, Real Estate, Retail/Wholesale and Motor industries throughout USA, Canada, UK, Australia and NZ. He previously worked and researched overseas for 16 years.

Known internationally as "Mr Real Estate Advertising", in 2014 he spoke for the 9th time at the Realtors Conference and Expo, USA – the world’s biggest Real Estate Conference – the only person outside North America ever invited more than 4 times.

His real estate advertising articles are published worldwide and he is a regular columnist for Realtor mag online, USA and REM, Canada.

His business was winner of the 2012 Creek to Creek and Southern Chambers of Commerce Business Award in the 5 or less employees category.

 As part of the Federal Government’s New Enterprise Incentive Scheme (NEIS), Ian has helped set up over 200 small businesses on the Gold Coast, assisting with their business plans, then 12 months mentoring - with documented successful outcomes of around 90% after 3 years of trading.

In February 2015, he was elected Chairman of the Palm Beach, Elanora and Burleigh (Police) Community Consultative Committee – an organisation established to develop a partnership between the Police and the community.

Author – his "3600 Real Estate Customer Service Ideas" book is No. 1 worldwide and he uses his hobby of writing children's books, to raise money for the Children's Health Foundation.

He is also the Founder and President of the multi community service award-winning (Palm Beach) Youth Music Venture, a voluntary organisation engaging and enriching the lives of local youth since 2010.
