If you are looking to re-open your doors, here is a simple break down of what's required to be compliant with all Queensland Government regulations.

To reopen and operate your business safely, you must have a workplace health and safety (WHS) plan in place to demonstrate the actions you are taking to ensure the health and safety of your employees and customers.

  • This WHS plan should be displayed to show that your business is operating safely.
  • You do not need to submit your WHS plan to any authority for approval.
  • You should also consider Queensland Health Directives when putting together your WHS plan.

For more information see here.

A 'COVID SAFE' checklist:

If you run a business in the Hospitality or Beauty Services industry you must complete and display a COVID Safe checklist before you start trading again. Enforcement officers will check that you've complied with the checklist, and you may be required to produce a signed copy (including via email).

Compulsory COVID Training:

Every business requiring a checklist (see above) will need all staff to complete an online training course through TAFE Queensland within two weeks of reopening. Click here to Register

what's your industry health plan?:

  • Industry health plans are not mandatory.

From stage 2 of eased restrictions, certain eligible industries, such as restaurants, pubs and clubs, will be able to lodge a COVID SAFE industry plan. If approved by the relevant health authority (e.g. Queensland Health), this plan will allow compliant businesses to offer services to an increased number of customers.

Not in these industries?

You should still be preparing for your re-opening or return to work, and that means drawing up specific plans to prevent and respond to coronavirus spread. You can also check out the Queensland Governments' Roadmap to easing restrictions for some insight into the road ahead.

For further details on the eased business restrictions and how they apply to your business, you can contact the GSGC Chamber of Commerce here.
