Gold Coast March PULSE Survey results are in and it’s not pretty

The latest Suncorp Pulse Survey for the March Quarter shows that business confidence and conditions for Queensland and on the Gold Coast are now at their lowest levels ever recorded with the worst not yet being realised.

The Southern Gold Coast Chamber has been working with the Queensland peak Chamber CCIQ on a number of issues. We’ve lobbied for small businesses grants which were announced this week. We’re lobbying now for firm details around when all of Queensland can be open for travel and the Border can be opened too. We’re working with all of the QLD Chambers for long term economic stimulus to help us all to come out of this in one piece.

As part of this we have launched the attached PULSE Survey of Business which shows how businesses have been impacted so far by Covid-19. This report is specific to the Gold Coast and contrasts our sentiment and performance with the rest Queensland. The picture it paints is not pretty!

"The results from the latest Suncorp Pulse Survey for the March Quarter shows that business confidence and conditions for Queensland and on the Gold Coast are now at their lowest levels ever recorded with the worst not yet being realised. The collapse of the Pulse Index followed the unprecedented forced business closures and strict social distancing measures put in place by the Queensland state government in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses across the Gold Coast region have been particularly impacted as a result of the strong linkage between service-based industries and tourism”.

We will be using this data to prosecute our messages to the QLD state government and beyond.
