Exclusive round 2 of 'Play Money' for the border businesses

City of Gold Coast has announced that there will be a ‘Round 2’ of Play Money specifically for the border business community solely.

‘Round 2’ does not have a kick off date set in stone just yet but expect late October. There is just on $1m set aside for this round and it will probably take a similar flavour to round 1 in as much as consumers will need to put some skin in the game by purchasing vouchers so as to create some commitment from them to spend it in a timely fashion where it needs to be spent.

Destination Gold Coast (DGC) have provided a paper based form for registration by business this time as well (click here), to try and make it as easy as possible for traders to sign up. The state government small business support pop up located at the Kirra Community Centre will also be ‘pounding the pavement’ with this as well to try and sign up as many businesses as possible for Round 2. It can also be done on line. (details to come)

Feedback from those businesses that registered for the more general Round 1 of Play Money has been strong, particularly those that used their social media/ digital platforms to promote it. There are numerous businesses that have already redeemed significant dollars and so it is imperative that we get to as many border businesses as we can with Round 2.
