Kirra Beach Hotel approved for redevelopment

The iconic Kirra Beach Hotel is set to shut its doors for more than two years while the site is redeveloped into a two-tower resort, rooftop bar and ground level retail laneway.

Plans for the revamp of the Hotel by KTQ Development have now been approved by council, with construction expected to start in late 2020.

Originally opened in 1956, the Hotel overlooking Kirra's famous surf break will be transformed into a mixed-use project, featuring 10 and 15 storey towers which will operate as a boutique resort hotel and apartments, a two-storey rooftop bar and dining facility and an activated retail laneway adjacent to the towers.

The concept of a bar overlooking the beach will be maintained, and it is expected to be the first piece of the project to be built.
